今の開発環境には --prefix から適当にインストール想定場所を割り出す機能が無いようなので、make install に一工夫必要です。
インストール想定場所を /usr/local としてパッケージ作成場所を ./prog/usr/local とする場合は以下のとおり。
$ ./configure --prefix=/usr/local
$ make; make install DESTDIR=`pwd`/prog/usr/local
従来の開発環境（シャープ提供のクロスコンパイル環境や dev-img 1.3 の改良版）では、--prefix で指定したディレクトリはコピー先となり、インストール想定場所は適当に算出されます。
$ ./configure --prefix=`pwd`/prog/usr/local
$ make; make install
