スペシャルカーネル v18h のソースを指定して hostap-driver を組んだのが 前の日記です。
ドライバ、Wireless Tools の両方から文句が出る上、そもそも 無線LANカードのLEDが反応していないという有様でした。
hostap-driver の 0.4.9 の一部機能を動かすには、Wireless Extension の ver.18 を入れたカーネル本体が必要のようです。
ザウルスのカーネルソース（スペシャルカーネル含）には ver.14 までしか組み込まれていませんので、Wireless Extensions 15〜18 のパッチをあててコンパイルしてみました。Hermes chipset ドライバは hostap-driver と被る可能性があるので、とりあえずモジュール化。
出来た zImage をザウルスに入れてみましたが、一応動きはするものの PC接続（USBネットワーク）が動作しない様子。本体だけでなくモジュールも入替えないと駄目なんかなあ。
2006-08-01 の日記にあるとおり、ザウルス本体の Wireless tools は ver.25で、カーネルの Wireless Extension ver.13 に対応しています（ver.14 ではない）。
エラーメッセージが鬱陶しいので、最新版である ver.28 の Wireless tools を組んでみました。
最新版は Wireless Extension との依存関係が無くなっていますので、じつに拍子抜けです。
ただ、元が /sbin/ に入っていますので、覚悟と入念なバックアップの上で入れ替えを行う必要があります。
2007-01-10 追記：接続名にに2byte文字（日本語）が入っていると接続できないようです
ザウルスは 元々 wlan-ng を使っていますので、それらのスクリプト（/etc/pcmcia/wlan* とか、/etc/rc.d/init.d/wlan とか）を全て脇に追いやります。
hostap-driver はスペシャルカーネルと一緒に組んだもの、つまり2006-08-01 時点のものです。
これで一応 hostap_cs が読み込まれ、かつ無線 LAN カードの LED が点滅するようになりました。
ただし、サーチを掛けてもまだ AP として見えるには至っていません。
